From the Mouths of Babes
Sarah's love for animals began as a child, when she would cry or even challenge adults she thought were mistreating animals. Her first dog, Muffy, was her constant companion since age seven, and would often come to school with her for "show and tell." This little black poodle was Sarah's pride and joy.
As Sarah became a teenager, she began volunteering at a local vet's office. She observed exams and surgeries, learned how to administer medication, helped with baths and grooming, and provided walks and TLC. She witnessed many serious veterinary undertakings, from happy routine checkups to euthanasia and its associated tears.
College and Early Professional Years
In college, Sarah began volunteering with local and international
animal protection groups, including the Great Ape Project, an
international organization working to save great apes. Under mentorship
of world-renowned scholars, professors and attorneys, Sarah gained a
great deal of knowledge and perspective.
Upon graduation from the University of Connecticut, Sarah had a B.A. in Political Science and a job offer from the Great Ape Project. She was hired as associate director, second in command under the executive director. Throughout her four years in this role, she continued learning about marketing noble causes, both in print and online.
A Wide Client Base
Over the years, Sarah's web clients have included nonprofit
organizations, life coaches, doctors, real estate professionals,
sporting goods stores, individuals with online stores, and others
looking to utilize the web to conduct business or further their
missions.
Traumatic Times Can Lead to Positive Missions
In 2005, Sarah's beloved golden retriever mix, Cori (seen above) lost
her vision from glaucoma. This was a traumatic time for both Sarah and
Cori, especially in the beginning. After considerable time and
re-training, Cori regained her confidence and is living a productive
life.
Cori's blindness further deepened Sarah's desire to help dogs in ways that matter to individual dogs as well as wider philosophical ideals.
Shortly after Cori went blind, Sarah founded "Cori's Vision," a project to help blind dogs and their human parents readjust. Since the inception of Cori's Vision, Sarah has distributed hundreds of free booklets, and has been featured in local newspapers, Dog Fancy Magazine and NBC News.
Love for Dogs + Professional Experience = An Exploding Online Network
In late 2008, Sarah began this series of dog friendly websites and
blogs designed to promote dog friendly companies, rescues and events.
Since then, it has grown into seven websites and three blogs, with dog
friendly companies and rescues across the country climbing on board for
the ride. Sarah plans to add more websites and blogs, as well as other
tools to reward dog lovers, rescue groups and dog friendly companies.
Animals have always held a central place in Sarah's life, and she strives to use her training and experience to improve their lives. Dogs – with their remarkable personalities and deep emotions – remain a key force in Sarah's life and the decisions she makes.
