We are proud to welcome
One Smart Dog, LLC to our series of dog friendly websites.
One Smart Dog, LLC
was founded by Dawn Lowery, a Connecticut-based animal professional who
offers a range of services to improve the quality of life for dogs, as
well as the relationship between dogs and their human families.
After
working in the corporate world for over ten years, Dawn decided to
follow her dream to help dogs. Since then, she has embarked on a number
of projects and initiatives to help both dogs and dog parents.
Dog
training is one service she offers. Using positive reinforcement, she
guides people through the process of reshaping their dogs' behavior
using rewards and praise. Because dogs are likely to repeat the
rewarded behavior in the future, Dawn shares that positive
reinforcement is one of the most powerful methods one can use when
training a dog.
Dawn received her training through the Animal
Behavior College (ABC). As part of the program, she was required to
volunteer at a local animal shelter. This experience, she says, was
instrumental in her decision to continue expanding her work to help
dogs. Although she has already earned her certification from ABC, she
continues to volunteer at local shelters, using her experience to help
dogs become more adoptable.
Along with her trainer
certification, Dawn has also held the role of Assistant Animal Control
Officer for the town of Wilton. She is also Red Cross certified in
canine CPR, and teaches CPR classes on a regular basis. Contact Dawn
for CPR class dates and to learn how CPR can save your dog's life.
Dawn Lowery holds many professional certifications and memberships, including:
* Red Cross Instructor for Dog First Aid and CPR, Valley Chapter
* AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator #40284
* Association of Pet Dog Trainers
